US still looking at Venezuelan ties of Rosneft’s subsidiaries

WASHINGTON, Mar 12 (PRIME) -- Washington is still looking into possible ties of subsidiaries of Russian oil major Rosneft with Venezuela, U.S. National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien said on Wednesday at the Heritage Foundation event in Washington.

“We are going to continue to support the Venezuelan people. We have put in recently additional sanctions on Rosneft, on Rosneft Trading and we are looking at some of its subsidiaries now to ensure that the wealth, the petrowealth of the people of Venezuela stays with the people,” he said.

In February, the U.S. sanctioned Rosneft’s subsidiary Rosneft Trading and its CEO Didier Casimiro accusing the unit of trading in Venezuelan oil, helping the government of Nicolas Maduro to bypass the U.S. sanctions.
